The bulk of BUSTR’s records relate to individual properties or sites that currently have or at one point had regulated USTs and these records may include environmental reports, no further action (NFA) letters, compliance inspections,
enforcement matters, etc. The Bureau of Testing & Registration maintains UST registration and permit records.

Unfortunately, no. The system requires a separate request for each facility as well as each Bureau. There is no limit to the number of requests that can be submitted.

NO. We cannot fulfill requests that are referenced by parcel numbers because BUSTR does not use parcel numbers in any way to identify records. Records pertaining to UST sites are maintained under a facility number that are referenced by address, owner’s name, etc.

A typical records request may take up to ten (10) business days. BUSTR fulfills the requests in the order they are received so please allow enough time for the bureau to complete the request. Emergency or immediate requests cannot always be accommodated. Additionally, it may take longer to fulfill larger requests or ones that do not provide facility numbers.

Records provided electronically do not have a charge associated with the request. Paper copies or records provided via CD may include costs.

If you do not have a complete street address or facility number, you may search our database by entering only a street name and/or city to try and obtain information. You may also go to the specific County Auditor’s website and attempt to obtain an address and then use that information to search our database. Please search our database and obtain a facility number before submitting a records request.

Be sure and start with broad search terms such as only the street name or the city name. Try using cross streets if the property is near an intersection. Additionally, keep in mind that many properties may not be in our system –especially properties with older USTs.

BUSTR was created in 1988. Before then, local fire departments regulated underground storage tanks. If you cannot find a record of the property in our system, contact the fire department for that property

Aboveground Storage Tanks are regulated by the State Fire Marshal’s Bureau of Code Enforcement. A separate records request will need to be made with the Code Enforcement Bureau.
